Mark Virgin is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on civil, commercial and administrative law. He assists clients with a broad range of matters, including family disputes, insurance disputes, personal injury claims, product liability suits, and professional negligence actions. In any court, Mark represents his clients with uncompromising dedication. Mark is also recognized as an excellent mediator.  Drawing upon his varied experience and knowledge of litigation, Mark has been achieving innovative solutions for litigants in disputes involving motor vehicle accidents, occupiers liability, product defects and disability claims.  He also has experience in the design of dispute resolution systems.


Whether before a court, an administrative tribunal or through commercial arbitration, Mark has successfully advanced his clients’ interests. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia. Mark represents individuals and corporate clients in disputes ranging from claims in negligence to breach of contract and breach of privacy. He occasionally acts for members of professional bodies in disciplinary matters. As well, he has provided advice to individuals and companies regarding regulatory matters and against public bodies.


Mark has presented before professional bodies such as the Canadian Defence Lawyers, the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC, and the Pacific Legal Technology Conference. He has published articles on a variety of topics, including expert evidence and assessment of damages.


Mark has been active in numerous community and professional organizations. He served as President of Anxiety Canada; he was a president and a director on the board of the Courthouse Libraries Society of BC, and he served as a co-chair of the Canadian Bar Association (BC Branch) annual conference. Advisory Panels have sought his input, including, in regards to law firm regulation for the Law Society of British Columbia.


In 2006, Mark founded Virgin Law Group (previously Stevens Virgin). Under his leadership, the firm has greatly expanded its capabilities and broadened the scope of the legal services it provides. Prior to founding the firm, Mark worked in private practice at a litigation boutique. As well, he previously spent a term as in-house counsel with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. Leveraging his extensive experience, Mark is committed to consistently advancing his clients’ interests and delivering legal solutions.

Mark has considerable court experience and has advocated numerous times before juries throughout the province. His success in this forum is exemplified in the verdict obtained at trial, and subsequently upheld on appeal, in the matter of Cahoon v. Brideaux.
