AREA OF PRACTICE

Family Law

Karman has been practising as a family lawyer for over 10 years.  She was called to the bar in 2011 in Ontario and in 2021 in British Columbia.

Karman’s practice is client focused and she understands that each client has their own unique experiences, concerns, and goals.  Because she understands that a divorce is costly, both financially and emotionally, she is pragmatic in her approach and focuses on achievable outcomes.  She works with each client to come to a resolution that recognises their individual needs and core concerns.

Karman has extensive experience in resolving a wide range of family law issues from division of property, including business interests, to complex parenting and support arrangements. Karman has appeared before the Superior and Provincial Courts on all issues. If it becomes necessary, Karman is prepared to take your matter to court.

Karman understands that court should not be the default solution in family law.  She is well versed in alternative dispute resolution processes, including collaborative family law, which can offer clients a measure of control over their case and provide interest based solutions.  As a collaboratively trained family lawyer, she is able to offer clients an alternative process that can be respectful and help clients move on from their separation with their dignity intact and an agreement that works for them.

Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience and her law degree at Dalhousie University before moving to Ontario to begin her legal career.  She now calls Vancouver home.  When she is not working, she enjoys going for a run and spending time with her husband and young daughter.
